The RVSC Weather pages are provided to help members judge the prevailing weather conditions at the club
The provision of an online weather service has been an ambition of the club since its redevelopment in 2000. Through the development of the club web site and the efforts of interested members this has become possible.
The club’s objectives are:
- Provide “near real-time” weather data from the club’s weather station. This data will include the usual weather conditions that you might see on your local TV weather segment. The data will be updated as frequently as is technically possible given the equipment resources available.
- Provide historical weather data in the form of text and graphs for the common weather variables.
- Provide links to other weather products such as other personal weather station websites, weather radar, forecasts and weather statements and warnings.
- Establish a “weather cam” for this website
The club has elected to use the Ambient Weather software “Virtual Weather Station”(VWS) and “WeatherFlash” in order to access the data from the weather station. VWS is able to analyse this output and with the use of WeatherFlash present continuous live feed weather data to the web site.
Ambient’s “ImageSalsa software also enables live pictures to be fed to the site so that the conditions can be observed directly.
This site is currently under construction and we would be pleased to receive any comments and suggestions on how it might be improved. If you have any questions please e-mail us at info@rvsc.co.uk or call me at 01254 703928.
